Because of the fast-paced world our students live in, and the unbelievable pressures they face, Crossroads Student Ministry is passionate about creating spaces for worship and community that are safe, relevant, and transformative. Through regular gatherings such as Connect 4, Thirsty Thursday, and Intersect, and annual events like our High School and Middle School Mission Trips to Pittsburgh and DC, students will experience the life-changing love of Jesus in the friendships of faithful volunteers and other students.
Crossroads student ministry exists to help youth experience deeper meaning, belonging, and purpose.
Crossroads Student Ministry is…
In a society of division, violence, and alienation, we strive to create worshipful spaces that care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of every student. Spaces where youth can live into the fullness of their identity and express their opinions, questions, and doubts without fear of reprimand or condemnation. Therefore, we do not discriminate based on race/ethnicity, sexuality, or gender identity. We do this because we believe in the unlimited welcome Jesus and his love for every person.
We are committed to a form of ministry that is relevant to today's student. Our approach to discipleship is fresh and exciting, but also engages students on their own terms - using Facebook, Instagram, texting, and other tools to communicate and form relationships with them.
We believe the Middle School and High School years of a person’s life are a time of intense formation. It is during these years that we develop a sense of who we are and what we value. In an effort to guide and support youth along this journey, we offer weekly small group meetings, annual retreats (such as Crossover Retreat for students transitioning to middle school and Confirmation for high school students), and summer mission trips, through which students can encounter the grace of God and build lifelong friendships.
A group of passionate adult volunteers are working on a series of formational events to help students and their families mark the transition from childhood to young adulthood (we are calling these “Rites of Passage”). We hope families will take advantage of this unique and important venture.
The CORE Team (i.e. Leadership Team)
The Core is a collection of youth and adults who agree to invest in the ongoing development of student ministry at Crossroads. These individuals help dictate the overall vision and mission of the ministry, as well as overseeing the regular week to week programming. The CORE meets at least once a month. Please email Leigh Finnegan-Hosey if you are interested in joining this team.
New Student Small Group!
We are looking to start a new small group for high school students that will meet twice a month for dinner and discussion. Our curriculum, called followHim, is designed to foster conversation about each individual's personal walk with Jesus. Participants read a statement from scripture where Jesus explains how to live into the rhythm of what God is doing, with some background on the text, and suggested questions to help the group reflect how they individually can follow his call. This group would share a meal alongside the conversation.
If you are interested in either hosting or participating in this small group, please email Leigh for more details.
