Crossroads Kids FAQs:
What is Crossroads Kids?
Crossroads Kids is the name given to the ministry that serves infants through 5th grade every Sunday morning. Each Sunday a group of dedicated and loving volunteers gather to teach the children about God’s unconditional love and unlimited welcome of Jesus. Their purpose is to share in the experience with families to “train children in the way they should go so that when they grow old, they won’t depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 CEB).
What classrooms are offered for the children?
We offer 4 classrooms on Sunday mornings:
Nursery-Infant and Toddlers-focus is on nurturing
Preschool-Kindergarten-focus is on discovering
1st/2nd Grade-focus is on growing
3rd-5th Grade-focus is on serving
Who can serve in Crossroads Kids?
Any youth age 16 and older and adults.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
How often can I serve?
As little or as much as you would like! Most of our volunteers serve 1 or 2 times a month at the same service on the same Sunday of each month. This helps provide familiarity to the volunteers and to the children.
Do I have to create the lessons?
They are emailed to you and all lesson prep is done for you. We just encourage you to read over the lesson before Sunday so that you can be prepared to receive the children.
How many children will I have in my classroom?
We usually serve about 10-15 children in each classroom except the nursery. The nursery usually has about 6-8 children in each service.
What do I need to do to get started?
All youth (18 years or older) and adults are required to have a background check and complete an online ministry safe training. The online course usually takes about an hour. In addition, volunteers will receive a Crossroads Kids Information packet or attend the Crossroads Kids annual training held in late August of each year.
We invite you to prayerfully consider how your gifts and talents might be used to help serve the children and their families. We hope this helps answer questions you may have about possibly serving with Crossroads Kids on Sunday mornings. Have more questions?
